Pediatric Dentistry
Even though we are a family dental practice, we pride ourselves in excellence in the treatment of children's dental care needs. We prioritize comfort and safety for both typical and exceptional children while striving for a fun, pain free experience. Our pediatric patients are offered a trip to our "treat box" with each visit.
Pediatric dental care tips:
- The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends children begin preventative dental check-ups when their first tooth appears or no later than the child's first birthday.
- Preventative dental check-ups should occur every 6 months.
- It is recommended that children's gum area be cleaned with a soft infant toothbrush or cloth from birth. Upon the appearance of the child's first tooth, teeth should be brushed twice daily with a tiny amount of fluoride toothpaste and a soft age-appropriate toothbrush.
- A balanced diet and limiting servings of sugars and starches will aid in protecting a child's teeth from decay.
- It is recommended that a soft protective mouth guard be used to protect children's teeth from injury during sporting events.
